A woman told yesterday how a satellite navigation system sent her onto a railway line and seconds later a train ploughed into her car. Do you use Sat nav?

Even though you are using Sat Nav, you still need to pay attention to road signs, etc.
The number of times my SatNav has tried to send me the wrong way up one-way streets is unbelievable!

Pay attention!

Perhaps if she had her lights on she would have seen she was driving across a railway line! who the hell stops their car on train tracks.

1. Another example of why women are not the best drivers
2. She should have been aware of where she was going
3. I never use SatNav, if I need to get somewhere I take my A to Z with me or look on Streetmap before the trip

You need to use a bit of common sense when using a satnav (same with everything though), not looking where you are driving because you are blindly following the way it directs you is just retarded. She should have her license taken off her.

I have always been very anti sat nav, but then this car I am using at the moment has it, and it is quite useful. As an example, I always get lost on the way in, and out, of OXford, so last weekend tapped in the post code, and pressed 'find route' System navigated me right in to where I needed to be, without one wrong turn. Very useful, and because you are not concentrating on every bloody roadsign to see which way to go, you can glance at the screen, and hear the instructions to find your way

I quite like it, but would only spec it in as original equipment, as I hate those TomTom sucker devices. The MINI system is about £1500, so unless I was using it lots, it is not worth it at all. My friend has also just got an Audi with MMI, that has the works on it, and that is coooo-el! :-P

How the hell did she manage to pass her driving test? What an absolute tit to admit that she was guided by an electronic gadget and to use such a gadget to navigate every inch of the way to her destination in the first place!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but these things don't tell you to stop if a traffic light is red or someone is crossing a pedestrian crossing do they? So the chances are she has already ploughed into oncoming cars and mown down countless pedestrians on her way to the railway line - but then she probably never noticed them because her Tom Tom won't have said ''you have just maimed a pedestrian' or 'that car was not recognised by the system so it's not your fault you hit it'.

So how did she come to stop on the railway line? Did she put the railway line co-ordinates into the 'destination' field on her system? Did it then say 'Congratulations you are at your destination ..... and by the way please get out of your car as the next train is 100 metres from your bonnet and you haven't punched in the co-ordinates of the nearest mortuary!!!!!!!!!'????????

I'd consider getting a cheap sat nav, as I do tend to get lost on occasion.

I have a GPS, but that is only practical if you are a passenger as it doesn't give directions, just way points etc. I have used that quite a bt.

My parents wanted to get it, but they tried it out in the shop and couldn't figure out how to use it, my mum's pretty handy with a map now though!

1. What an absolute sexists penis you are
2. Duh, Sat Nav is to guide you where to go- if you knew you wouldn't need sat nav.
3. People trust sat nav understantably- that is the whole point of it.
