Prince Harry will not serve in Iraq because of "a degree of risk" that has become "unacceptable", General Sir Richard Dannatt has said. Sensible decision?

Strategically it makes sense: being there he endangers his fellow troops. That should have been the Palace's spin, not that it was too dangerous. Regardless of what the US are doing over there, the British army is doing important work there, training police, building hospitals and schools etc. Ok we shouldn;t be there in the first place but theres more Harry can do there even if he isnt deployed on the 'front lines'

Aye but him just being there, he will be a big target, wheather he is on the front line or not. its a military decision.

Like we ever thought he would, that's why he said he wanted to go 'cos he knew he never would.

Good PR for the royals, bad for the army.

If theya re concerned that HArry will be a target why don't they dress him like all the other soldiers instead of in his Nazi costume, 'cos surely that will make him stand out

It'll all be worth it come the revolution

I for one am glad. Sending him there would have wasted resources with other soldiers undoubtedly being used to protect him. Why not send him somewhere low key. Do we still troops in Kosovo as part of the UN forces maintaining peace?
