As some of you might remember, I ordered a new Dell PC a while back.
Delivery was arranged for the morning of Wednesday 16th May with Walsh Western who deliver all of Dell's PC orders. Unfortunately, on said morning, my tracking number refused to work, and since I needed to get off to work at midday, I gave them a call.
Turned out, one package was 'very badly damaged' during transit, and the other was mysteriously sent to Exeter (I live up in Edinburgh). They quite swiftly encouraged me to call Dell and let them know of the situation, and quickly got off the phone. Cant say I was too pleased with having to sort out a replacement myself, but I went and gave Dell a call. They informed me they'd get in touch with Walsh Western, and to leave it with them.
Next day, a call from WW came, and told me they could deliver my un-damaged package Friday evening, which I gladly accepted. Unfortunately, they then called me again on Friday, and left an answer phone message stating that I now wouldn't get anything until BOTH boxes were to be delivered. Again, no apology.
Yesterday, Dell called and enquired about my troubles. They seemed surprised I hadn't received the un-damaged package, and they've asked me to give them til the end of today when they'll call again, hopefully with a new delivery date.
So far, 6 days late, no apologies - apart from Dell yesterday - and no sign of a new delivery date. Seems to have taken til today for either company to actually sort the situation out, and I'll be pushing very strongly indeed for all sorts of compensation. Turns out Dell charge a whopping £51 for shipping, so that'll do for starters!
In other news, the PSU and Graphics Card that I ordered from eBuyer arrived safe and sound on their due date.
I think I might need a new one with all the extra gadgets I've got inside it.. is there an easy way to figure out how powerful a PSU you need without finding info on everything in there and adding up the consumption?

Hard drives and cd-roms are around 20-30 watts each. Your cpu and graphics will be the biggest consumers. A core 2 duo might use upto 120watts alone.
If you have a high end graphics card, or one that needs it own power connector(!), loads of stuff in your computer then you might need a higher spec one. 400+ watt seems enough for most people these days. If the psu itself is running quite hot that might be a sign that it's underpowered.
I think there's calculators you can find to work out how much you use. Have a look on google

Well, oddly, the PSU that comes with the PC doesn't have the required P10 connector to hook up to the Graphics Card I was after - another annoyance - so a new one was the best idea.
What PSU have you got in now? There's no real need to go for anything above 500W, unless you've multiple hard drives, and are planning to slap in one of the new DX10 graphics cards once they're available.
As for cancelling the order, I could...but then I'd miss out on the bargain! As long as it arrives this week, and I get some kind of recompense, then I'll be fairly happy.

Cheers for the link Pip
I've got the default one which came with the PC, using the link Pip listed it should be able to handle it, but I'm unsure on a number of the things in the PC anyway.
Well, my monitor was delivered this morning, without any prior warning. It's chuffing huge, but it's pretty blatant that it's been opened/used before, what with the power cord missing, and the drivers disc scuffed. But, there's been no sign of backlight bleed, and no dead pixels that I've noticed thus far, so I'm happy to live with it.
Just given Dell yet another call to let them know, and apparently I'll receive a call later today to sort out my replacement PC. So, the monitor's been delivered a week late, and the PC will no doubt be another week or so yet too.
Can't say I've had particularly bad service...just obscenely slow, and reluctant to let me know what's going on.
