Nottingham has topped a league table of the most crime affected cities in England and Wales, followed by Leeds, Stockport and Manchester. London's way down the list at 29th. Bothered by the stats?
I lived in Nottingham for over six years and, unless it's turned into a Wild West town, I just don't recognise the place these stats describe. OK, so there's rough areas and a lot of drinking in the city centre on weekends, but I had no trouble all the time I was there.
Anyone from Manchester or Leeds care to comment?
Red Ken must have commissioned the survey, agreed!

When did you live there Will? I'm from the midlands and I always thought Nottingham was quite a nice city, BUT I stayed there last year in a city centre hotel and I couldn't believe it. I couldn't sleep because of all the joy riding and the noise the gangs on the streets were making.
Oh all over. Two so called rough areas, Radford and the Meadows.
Lived in Lenton when I was a student and stayed with friends in The Park, West Bridgford and The Arboretum.

The city centre is noisy on the weekend yep. Any hotel near Maid Marian Way or Collin Street - where the lads race their crappy XR3is - should be given a wide berth!
Jon Collins, leader of Nottingham City Council, demanded the study be withdrawn until its authors "get their facts right" and "before it does any further damage to Nottingham, its businesses, its universities and its reputation".
