Shock horror director Eli Roth seems to have run out of tricks this time round. Click for our verdict, the trailer and tell us what you think.

It's odd how "the critics" all slammed the original (except us here on MZ that is) but now, with hindsight, they are saying how ground-breaking it was in its own way in the mix of porn-guilt and violence-porn guilt which was very cleverly done in the first movie.

If you don't like slash movies (or just can't look) then it won't be for you but in its own way - somewhere in there - the Hostel movies actually do challenge our attitudes to sex and violence. They are also well told yarns with a good line in black humour. You are allowed to look away at times as well.

i've still not seen this. me and my missus have watch a few scary films but have not got this for fear it might be going a bit too far. the same goes for the hils have eyes. are they as gruesome as people make out.

we've seen all the saw films and the texas chainsaw massacre remake along with others along the same lines. is hostel any worse than these films?

I liked and hated Hostel at the same time. However, I must have liked it more because I want to see this one.

It was original and I like the way it made you feel that this could actually be happening for real.

They probably are a bit more gruesome than the Saw movies but then how to you grade that sort of thing? If Saw was too much then Hostel would be beyond your tolerance level. In a way that's not the issue though - as they are not really meant for enjoyment in the "lets see someone getting chopped up for fun" kind of way. I think we are meant to be horrified and scared aren't we? If not then it's step one to being a serial killer!
