He's not that greedy! He just thinks that he's contributed more than some of the other players who are on more money! Besides, if you're that much in demand why not milk it?
How much is he currently earning? I'm assuming it's already somewhere in the region of £100k per week.
What the hell would you do with that money if you were earning that much?
After you'd bought a couple of houses, had indoor and out door pools and tennis courts built, and bought all the nice cars and motorbikes you wanted to, would you do then?
On 100k + per week, things like mortgages, bills, food shopping, council tax, brand new designer clothes, MOT, car insurance, car tax, sky TV subscription, Playstation 3 and an Xbox 360 with all the latest games, 4 foreign holidays per year etc etc etc mean absolutely nothing.
You could cover all that and still have tens of thousands of pounds left over. But don't worry. The very next week you get another £100k to play with! What's the matter? Can't he get by? Too many mouths to feed? Get real. Will the extra £35000 per week really help? Is he that bad with his money that he can't save any of it?
Exactly 'footballers'. Not just him. He's really no different from most footballers. If he knows he can make more money he'll do it. That's if it's even him, perhaps he's taking advice from his agent (it wouldn't be unheard of!). Or, maybe he really does want to move. How many other people would turn down a move to Barca?
It's greedy feckers like him that raise ticket prices to 40 quid a match minimum. I long for a salary cap like in rugby league, or at least some sort of system whereby players get say only 50% of their wage if the team loses.
