Anyone into UFC? Saturday nights event was fantastic. Some upsets, some great returns, some potential new superstars, a former WWE star getting his arse handed to him on a plate by the BJJ master Frank Mir. It had everything.
The silvia- Noguera fight was insane. Silvia is about 7 feet tall, sort of a thai boxer/boxer, serious striking power. Noguera is about 6'2 and a BJJ supremo. Nog got hammered, but managed to submit silvia. It was a great fight. If you can break someones leg/ankle/arm, pull limbs out of sockets or make them unconscious, they can't fight. That's what BJJ is about.
Yeah it was great to see former WWE champion Brock Lesnar get wiped out so quickly, he had hyped his appearacne up so much and got such a push i epxected more from him. UFC is very cool indeed.
I saw a bit of it last night, I'm a bit of a casual fan when it comes to UFC, I watch the odd match on Bravo during the week, but I tuned in last night to catch the Brock Lesnar - Frank Mir fight. I'd like to get into it more & the world of MMA, as I enjoy watching but know very little about it & the competitors.
Silvia is huge, 6" 8, I've seen him fight before & was very impressed but he was on past my bedtime, will have to try & catch a repeat sometime
Brock did start off really well. Was he 265 at the weigh in? I bet he was closer to 280 for the bout. I love Frank Mir. He is so good at what he does. He lay on his back, hooked in the leg and pulled. It's all so simple when you watch the top guys do it. What makes it more impressive is that frank was easily giving away 40lbs.
I've forgot the name of the guy who didn't fight for 4 years, then returned saturday. That guillotine with the arm in was incredible. I'm surprised the guy was awake long enough to tap.
