I had a girlfriend for 2.5 years who played guild wars, it got to the point where I could not stand the sight of the game or hearing about the characters and powers, and what world the guild was going to meet up in every other night.

I was doing some research into all this and found some people play these type of games half their life. Im not saying you do, but it is a little scary.

It can get a little much... I played on a US server and we used to raid at 11pm GMT until 3am four times a week and I had uni the morning after on two of those days...

Suffice to say I don't play anymore - I do have guildwars though as that's a bit moe casual in that you can play most of the game on your own without needing to group.

I have a friend who plays WOW, and how he has managed to keep a girlfriend for 4 years is an absolute mystery to me. He literally comes out of his room about 1 day per month (except to go to work).

Saddo.

That is wrong on virtually every level.

Im glad some other people think it too. The problem was that a lot of her friends played, as did her brother, his wife and their friends. They would talk about it a lot of the time, what the guild was going to do, etc etc...

In many ways it is a nice hobby, if you do it maybe once a week...but she lived in Germany, i hadnt see her for 2 months and the second night i was there she played Guild Wars for 4 hrs because the guild had a night arranged and she couldnt get out of it.

Needless to say we split up and she is now going out with a fellow guilder, good luck to them!

Sorry i didnt mean to hijack your thread!

A couple of my friends play this obsessively at times and I just don't get it. I mean I guess it's a hobby and a past time but when it takes priority over everything else and you lose days to it that's a bit much.

Well I don't have a pc but a laptop at home and only got broadband a year ago, so was saved from getting sucked into anything like this! It is a bit depressing. I suppose if your life is just that boring it might be more enjoyable to live online :-/ That whole second life thing is creepy too

It's not just games like this but the internet in general -
Are you addicted to the internet?
