Idiots question but here goes:

I was performing dumbell lunges last night as part of a routine and as always I was more stable lunging back with my right leg than my left.

I alternate sides legs, so it isn't caused by being tired when lunging on the "sencond" side.

So is it just me or do others have the same problem?

I haven't done lunges in soooo long, but I don't remember having this problem. Maybe one leg is just much stronger?

How do you perform the sets:

set1 right only, set2 left only
or
rep1 right, rep2 left ....

I have the same problem as you, so I start the first set with my left side and then the second rep is right side.

I am doing 3 sets, then I start sets1 and 3 with left-side; and second with right.

If I have done some sprinting or sprint-based training, then I start the sets with my left side.

Even when I do this, I do notice that sometimes my left-side may not be able to do the final rep; yet the right-side can on the next set.

My problem is that the right-side is stronger because of cycling, I use my right left for braking and when starting-off.

have you tired walking lunges, just keep going forward in a circle and you'll be alternating with each leg. Then try doing it backwards (perhaps with no weight for practice)

No me too, at first. I figured it out that it was down to the fact my right foot is dominant and I had a tendency to favour the right foot position over the lefts. Basically meant I had to be more aware of my feets position when doing them, might help having your stance a little wider or toes pointing out slightly.

Thanks All!

I think Loki has the answer - it is down to dominant leg and foot postion.

I need to concentrate more :-(
