Hi, I’m Johnny B B. You may remember me from such training logs as Add 5 Pounds Before Christmas & Mr Mansized 2008 ……

Sorry about that……. ahem

Workout History

There’s a brief history at the start of my MM08 Log, so just add to that MM08

Injuries

I’m not one for injuries but during MM08 I thought I was injuring my back in the gym, how wrong was I. During this week off, with no exercise at all, I still have the back discomfort. I finally think I’ve sussed as to what it is, I shall see

Measurements - as at 14-04-08

Weight: 13st 10 lbs (192lbs)
Height: 6' 5"

Neck: 15.40
Chest: 39.60
Navel: 37.00
Upper Arm Flexed: 13.60
Upper Arm Relaxed: 13.10
Forearm: 11.25
Thigh: 23.75
Calf: 15.00

Body Fat: 16.7%

For this challenge I’m ditching the BF monitor & switching back to using callipers, I’ll be measuring 3 sites that I can do myself. Then I’ll be punching the measurements into the Measurement & the Pollock 3 BF calculators (found here ) & averaging out the result.

Targets

Although I’m not carrying a huge amount a fat, the love handles & last bit of gut are still here, the plan is with the Six Pack Plan to blitz the last flabby bits.

I’m hoping 3-5% BodyFat loss will sort that out. This should be achievable within 8 weeks or so, so I may look into a specialisation routine for a couple of weeks after hitting it. Then again, it could take me the full 12 weeks to get to where I want. Clear as mud I know

Secondly I want something to strive for in the gym, so I’ve set myself a few targets:

- Stiff Legged Deadlift 100kg for 6 Reps (excluding bar)
- Machine Bicep Curl 30kg for 10 Reps
- Machine Shoulder Press 25kg for 10

Workout – Six Pack Plan

Routine A

Leg Press/ Machine Pullover / Lat Pulldown (underhand shoulder width grip)

Incline Dumbbell Press/ Seated Cable Row/ Close Grip Dumbbell Press

Machine Shoulder Press/ Machine Bicep Curl/ Ab Crunch

Routine B

Leg Press/ Machine Pullover

Leg Extension/ Leg Curl

Incline Dumbbell Press/ Seated Cable Row

Lat Pulldown/ Machine Shoulder Press

Tricep Pushdown/ / Machine Bicep Curl

Stiff Legged Deadlift

Routine C

Rotary Torso (L&R) / Reverse Crunch

Dumbbell Side Bend (L&R) / Ab Crunch

Leg Press

Lat Pulldown

Close Grip Dumbbell Press

Calories

Week 1 1800
Week 2 1700
Week 3 1600
Week 4 1500
Week 5 1800… and so on

Water is 3-5 litres at least a day. Supps are 1 multi vit & 2 fish oil caps a day

Slip Ups

They happen. No doubt over the 12 weeks someone's Birthday will pop up that I'll have to work around & I know for sure I'm at a wedding at the end of May & will feel a bit of a knob if I'm drinking orange squash during the celebrations.

Good luck!

Will be interesting to compare notes when the Blips come up... thats what im worried about for this period - I have 2 events in which volume drinking is unavoidable..

Cheers Flying Fox!

Peer pressure is the big thing, I could quite happily live my life without binge drinking, but that's "boring" "sad" & "gay". I reckon I can get away with it for a few weeks by playing the skint card. For MM08 I went out, drank squash & drove which wasn't too bad but for big events it's pretty tricky

Drinking for me is just not on the agenda.
Apart from 1 or 2 planned sessions up front.
I get the most stick from the missus of all people!

It sucks Lardy & relates to my rant a while back about peolpe being unsupportive, it comes down to jelousy.

I'm avoiding binge drinking, I'll still be having a Saturday afternoon pint down the pub watching the footy.

Thats a problem for me, if I have one or two, willpower vanishes.
If I have a planned night I will drink away.
If I dont, I cant have any.
I will have a few this saturday before I knuckle down.

Just got to try an appease the wife. She is getting a night out for her sisters birthday 9th May or so. I will try and have a few with her sometime in June.
Thats all I am hoping to do in the 12 weeks.
At least if you start fairly strict any mishaps wont do too much damage.
At least it works for me.

A good tip is to drive. A) You can have one pint MAX & B) You're mates will love you because they don't have to drive :)

I go out with my missus more at the moment.
I didnt see my mates much during Mr Ms.
Catching up with them tomorrow over a few cold ones.

My missus is the problem. She insists I drink if I go to the pub with her. Whats all that about!! I would quite happily drive and have a few diet cokes.

I meant 2. I am going out with her for her sisters birthday, then probably one other. If I drink , I drink! Then the next days a right off and I would probably eat crap to feel better. I am better not drinking too much during the 12 weeks. I think 2 maybe slipping to 3 is more than enough for me. I intend to keep it at 2 , but things dont always work out that way, as we know.

I could never give up alchohol for 12 weeks. I just limited it to 1 or 2 nights a week and avoided my beloved lager.

I think Lardy has an addictive personality! ;)

Good luck in your challenge Johnny Be Good!
