It looks like men's style magazines are slowly but surely undergoing a radical change. Magazines like GQ, Esquire and Arena are increasingly appealing to an older man who wants to play it safe and in turn alienating younger readers. This would explain the choice of Daniel Craig as most stylish man in Britain. (Ever since he became Bond, men's magazines have universally dropped to their knees to fellate Daniel Craig, despite the fact -and it is a fact - that he's an incredibly boring interviewee).
I have no fashion sense.
I buy stuff in high street clothes shops, so maybe there is some fashion/trends due to their buyers or whatever.
I buy what I like, and thats it.
I would never wear something that is fashionable and stands out like a sore thumb.
Good talky bit. Have you ever got style tips from Esquire, GQ and the like? If so are you turning to them less or more? Ta, W
not consciously
but I suppose if the images are everywhere it's possible.
I think most people will just dress in what they feel comfortable and not that many can afford the stuff that's on display in these mags, anyway.
The one 'style corner' I used to look at was a section in Q magazine which showed off the latest gadgets that no home could look good without (before Q disappeared up Chris Martin/Micheal Stipe's arse) ... but that probably doesn't count
I have no style. I hate shopping. I go in shops, see a shirt/jumper/jeans. Find my size, pay and get the hell out of the shops before a crazy woman can attack me.
I would say the likes of GQ, Esquire and Arena have always been the more grown up, and mature version of magazines compared to the likes of FHM, Loaded, etc that are aimed at the younger market.
There is also a link to class/socio-economic group in the type of people that they are aimed at, and who read these mags.
Daniel Craig is quite simply the face du jour, like David Beckham was a few years ago, so they are likely to feature him an awful lot. It's hardly rocket science.
Do you know you guys speak more sense that the countless mag strategy meetings I've been in over the years.
*buys virtual round of drinks
It's all about common sense, surely?
I have a few friends who work in advertising, and some of the basic stuff they do, they make so complicated - now, one of the companies has dropped the ABC1, etc categorisations as they are not relevent to the work they do, and society in general, and they use a series of descriptors to categorise people in to the groups they fit (tho I can't remember what they are).
