You know the way you have really significant 'loves' that affect you to the core, that you never forget, that are difficult and traumatic at the time but that you survive because love is 'LOVE' somehow and you just do.......

Imagine that sort of thing and then 25 years later in a supermarket near your house someone laughs in the booze isle and says something like 'you don't recognise me, do you?' and there he is!

You are horrified, delighted, embarrassed, touched and excited all in one go.....

What is the correct procedure following the obvious introductions to hsb and exchange of mobile numbers?

get in touch and share those tricky, intense memories?

stay well away because it's long gone and neither partner will be impressed?

ignore the past and see if there is any common ground now?

It's called the curse of Friends Reunited.

Remember - there is a reason why you haven't seen them for 25 years.

Difficult one.

Having never been in that position I can offer no advice other than be careful. The little I know of you Beady, I imagine you would never do something silly, so I assume there is no harm in meeting for old times' sake, as friends.

25 years is a long time (my lifetime to date!) and I am sure people change.

It depends what you mean by 'silly'.

It's a bit bizarre since I knew him 200 miles away from here... and now he lives around the corner.

*laughs at life

hello billprice!

Well, I expect once I've calmed down a bit we may, or may not meet up and may or may not chew the fat about the old days.

I'm still in touch with some of our mutual friends - they will be amazed!

It'll depend on the nature of his marriage really. I know the nature of mine.
