Corrected.

Yeah because Gordon Brown, the unelected leader of this country is a better leader than Maggie.

You want to stop drinking so much!

Among the great achievements of Thatcher and her legacy:

The stamp duty fiasco
Deregulation of buses
The break-up of the railway system
The promotion of 'no win, no fee' lawyers
The NHS split into commissioner and provider
Right to buy (at a ludicrous discount)
The Falklands fiasco
CCT

* yawns *

BTW: You could only vote for Thatcher if you were a member of the Conservative Party.

Every PM will makes a lot of mistakes, though. I would go as far to say that I think every modern PM has been the best choice at the time, but TB should have gone after his first term and GB should also go after his first term.

Following on from this...PEG don't mean to crash your thread so I'll go elsewhere if you want to keep this thread on you.

I'm thinking of telling my boss about the issues I have with my role. I'm looking here there and everywhere for something different, but if i go internally, he can potentially block any move I want to make.

Do you think I should discuss that I want out of my current role...or should I keep it to myself until I find something else?

why would he want to block a move for you ?

does he dislike you or does he want yo ass ?

I think it's fair for anyone to say they've become stagnant in their current role and could they branch out into another area ... they should be glad your showing loyalty to the company and not just heading off somewhere else

Thanks so much for your continued support everyone. Especially Motiv8 for such a kind and well thought out post!

I’m definitely feeling better. I’ve managed to ‘nail down’ my concerns to four main issues, two of which are role related and two of which are organisation related (with several points in each of course!). I’m going to set up a meeting with my boss next week. I have a few suggestions of possible solutions up my sleeve too.

I’ve decided to try to get things into perspective as well as manage my time more sensibly. People have relied on my conscientious nature for too long here and it’s time to grab something back for me.

@ Wes, why do you think your boss will block you? Do you not have a good relationship?

Wes, if your boss is the a**hole that you say, then it is probably well known in the organisation anyway. Likewise, if you are good at what you do, that is probably well known too.

You should never regret the things that you do - only the things that you don't do.

And that last one applies to you as well PGE

Hey Peg!

I know you are not online now, but was just wondering what you did, and how things are now?

Not to go off topic, but why should one not regret things one has done? Sometimes they should be regretted.

You'll need to ask Mark Twain - it was his quote (almost)

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you haven't done than by the things that you have.

M. Twain

Je ne regret rien !
