I haven't lost any muscle mass. I just did a full body work out that killed me then followed it up with 20 minutes cardio straight away. Soaked with sweat at the end and knew I had done a great job.
However as I always say... the choice is very much yours.
I hope that if you do decide to do carido then someone will give you some advice on how best to tackle it.
Thanks Matt and BC, more food for thought..... the thing is that with regards to muscle mass I don't actually think I have much in the way of muscle mass to lose. Part of me thinks that adding cardio will speed up the weight loss and the other part is saying don't go there! I'm just so desperate to speed up the weight loss though.
If it isn't that fast you can speed it up by working harder in the gym and being stricter with the diet.
Matt is right here.
The other thing I would look at is your macronutirent balance.
How much are you taking in carbs : protein : fat ?
If it were me... and this is not advice just a statement of what I will do when I want to lose fat fast... I will cut my carbs out almost completely for 2 or 3 days at a time then have a balanced day then cut them out again.
Again that is not advice. I would expect you to take advice from someone who understands it properly. I took that from a bodybuilder friend of mine who cuts and has to get down to very low fat levels.
Cheers Matt and BC :o) I have been moving things up a notch at the gym although I'm crap at keeping tabs on what wieghts I'm shifting etc as I use one of those key thingies that tells me what to do in terms of exercise but mostly I'm shifting 20-25kg on most of the machines but less with the free wieghts, the biggest difference being the db bench press where I had to drop 2kg from the weight as when doing it at home I was doing it at floor level so my elbows weren't dipping but now they are I find I can't shift the same wieght. The biggest difference in what I'm doing at the gym compared to what I was doing at home with my dbs is more reps. According to Fitday my average daily carb intake is 55%, fat 25%, protein 17% and alcohol 3%.
Another thing I forgot to mention yesterday was that I had to go to hossie to see my gastro enterwotsit consultant and he say's my haitus hernia is "massive" and that I needed to cut out wieghts as wieght training greatly aggravates the thing and will increase my risk of developing pancreatic cancer :o/ I don't want cancer but I don't want to give up the wieghts! Oh, and he says that cardio is fine :o/
