Ok then, neuromuscular facilitation if you prefer.
Get lost professor science...!
I like the muscle memory idea, heavy weights that you're muscles apparently remember then find them easier the next time.... in principle it sounds great but in the cold light of the gym 110k is still gonna be a heavy and that's bloody easy to remember!
I always think of it in this way. Your muscles, when bigger, made room when they grew. That room is still there. So this time, when trying to grow, it happens quicker, because the preparations are all in place already. Christian Bale is a great example of muscle memory working a treat.

I think that applies more to fat cells than muscle fibres!

Alternatively, his memory recalls exactly what type of diet, training and hard work was required last time.
I still say this is over complicating a simple thing, lift heavy one week, you'll lift the same, maybe a little more the week after... go forwards not backwards!
I see what you mean, interesting then, as it would seem that I should be able to get bigger quicker than my training partners as my muscles have been there before...
I'll have to watch and train and see what happens.

.
Or you'll get bigger quicker than your training partner because your brain knows what to do, because it has done it before
