That is a beach in Goa no?
Oh hell yeah, but it's the affording to live and having a limited period of time there which isn't bohemian.
Live there personally and earn money from your own personal website. ;-)

You can eventually move to the second place full time.
If you don't want gadgets, don't buy them, it isn't that hard to resist.

LOL That's missing the point. It's the society itself I dislike and what the consumerism not the gadgets itself. They way we live we need some gadgets.

What exactly is it that you are after?
There are many different forms of communal living. Tobias Young has a book: Utopian Dreams where he spent time seeking out, and living with various communal societies. I have only read a little bit of it, and should get re-stuck in to it, as it is very interesting.
As Matt says, you can adapt your existing life to move towards more of what you want. My best friend and his wife have all the modern fripperies such as TV and computers, etc, but they aren't slaves to them. They eat nice food, and have good holidays, but it is all in their style of what they want to do . I love going to stay with them, because their lifestyle is very sociable, but doesn't revolve around consumption of material goods. It does involve the consumption of food though: we have long, lazy breakfasts, and then not much later move on to lunch, all round the table with the papers and plenty of chat and often a few glasses of vine (not with breakfast tho!)

guber made a website about leaving the rat race. Maybe a change of country is what you need though. But you said you have some money troubles atm so it isn't practical to up and leave?
I'd try sort that out. Can you flog some of your stuff, reduce out goings, what are biggest costs. All the usual stuff. Guessing you done this already

Are they not making a big come back? Am sure I read somewhere that the Israeli marketing people are going on a kibutz recruitment drive.
Maybe we should make an application on Apple's behalf?!
