Sorry to hear that tom. As you no doubt know, cancer is when cells in our body rebel against their programming and grow and divide out of control and spread throughout the body, choking healthy cells. Our lab works on research looking at how normal and cancer cells interpret signals from their environment about whether it is the right time to grow or not.

My project is to create mice which are deficient in a gene linked to growth and gaining energy from food. This kind of basic research will help other people find targets for designing drugs, which yet more people will test in clinical trials. That's the idea anyway.
