We all know that Americans don’t give a rats-cock about ‘Soccer’, because if they did, they would be one of the best, if not, the best in the world. Even so, it is not a given that we will win the game tonight. It will be the usual England performance no doubt. A good quick start, creating (and missing) a number of chances, followed by a lot of running around like headless chickens, too scared to go and express themselves until eventually they start throwing men forward, leaving big holes between defence and midfield, no real width, no pace but plenty of effort and spirit. England seems to always expose the keeper and the back four doing this. They don’t seem to grasp the tactical side of International football like say the Italians, as there is not much tactical goings on in the Prem - let’s be honest, even I could send a Man Utd team out to beat Derby, I wouldn’t really need to lay down much to the players, but International football is a different animal!
I just hope tonight is about looking forward to the world cup, but I have the feeling tonight is going to be about David Beckham who I personally think is not good enough any more at this level. The sooner this attention seeking man-whore is dropped from our national team the better. Seriously, why go over to the states to play out your career if you are serious about performing at the highest level week in week out? Money? The missus? Whatever his reason, I think he has served his purpose for England. Thanks for the goals, thanks for the crosses, the girls and gays all still love you, now piss of and do another advert and enjoy playing against a 40 year old Coby Jones every week!
My prediction for tonight depends on what frame of mind the players are in but hopefully they will put on a good show before pissing of on holidays normal people only dream of. Oh, another thing has annoyed me - I am sick of hearing annoying pricks going on about John Terry and his crying after the Champions league final. The same pricks that in the past were slating players for “not showing passion” or “only in it for the money” The John Terry band wagon has really gather momentum at my workplace and I am sick of it. The guys is human for fuck sake, can he not show emotions considering the circumstances? There are few players at the top level who are genuine class acts, Terry is one of them. Another class act (although not a footballer) is Ricky Hatton, these kind of characters epitomize guts and passion and if only more England players had these traits then I am sure we would be in the Euro’s this summer. John Terry must be captain tonight; anyone who disagrees is a stinking monkey’s butt-hole.
I agree with everything you've said. John Terry is a gash footballer though. He has the right attitude and a magnetic forehead. Spose that's all you need to be a centre half though.
Drop Beckham. He's tosh. Fabio should select a bunch of kids and up and coming players. Let them get a feel of international football. Dean Ashton, Bentley, Barry (not a kid or up and coming but I think is entering a new era of his career), Walcott, Huddlestone, Micah if he's fit. Players like that.

The American teams are even worse then the British teams.
Baseball: Look at the Red Sox, Yankees and all the US players; yet they were awful at the Baseball Classics
NBA: Best players, yet they under perform
Football seems to the sport, they overachieve at; however, it does help they are in a poor qualifying group and it is not seen as important as other sports.
Thanks for the stars. I put a lot of thought in the post. I'm trying to contribute a little more thoughtfully to the site, hence this and my Gordon Brown rant :-)

you called beckham a man-whore!
but is the heat not on fabio too?
I did indeed call Beckham a man-whore. I have seen his naked torso far too many times to say he is a footballer and I am a straight guy.
The heat is most definitely on fabio. He needs a good performance tonight.

lol @ magnetic forehead, that is so true!
I totally agree with us sending in the young guns now. I really think Bentley is the next great English player.
I've got faith in Fabio. Let's see what he cooks up for tonight. Didn't he demand an extended getting together period? Or is that still to come? Then he can work with the team for a decent amount of time rather than just 3 days.
