Why do shop/brand sizes vary so much?
At the moment I am XL (slightly snug)/XXL (slightly too loose) in clothes from Burton/Asda.
I was checking out some nice Diesel t shirts in tk max today, and they look tiny, I didnt have the courage to try them on. Is it just the style, or do brands/styles of clothes really vary that much in terms of size?

Yes.

All female clothes shopping is like this.

Its so frustrating.
You think it would be something they could easily standardise on. I understand that fitted stuff etc would be harder to do, but still, somewhere near would be nice.
Maybe Diesel just dont want fat gits wearing their stuff!

Yeah I think some of the 'trendy' brands are made for the skinnies.

I can range anywhere between a medium and an XL!

I am really not an XL! Most places I am a large. I have an odd proportion!

I like diesel t-shirts as they tend to fit me, but i used to be quite skinny. I used to be a medium, now I'm a large.

I find quite a lot of t-shirts can be too big, and baggy in the wrong places, designed either for really slim or fat people.

Sizing is a 'mare for all!

I am normally a medium, but some G-Star stuff I have is XL as their sizes are sooooo small.

I don't get how sizes which are measurements, such as waist or leg length can vary so much. Surely the tolerances can't be that big?

Over 2 shopping trips I bought various items. Some 8s, 10s, 12s and a 14 in something. Also bought shoes that fit but are 2 sizes smaller than what I normally wear.

Bllody weird and annoying that I can't just go somewhere and pick something up in one size and know it'll fit.

It's really common definately in women's clothes.

I'm sure they just do it to make people think they're an 8 when they're a 14!!!

It really does vary hugely from shop to shop.

Would rather know I'm, for example, a 12 and just be able to be fine picking up a 12 anywhere.

Some brands also vary in size in different ranges - a medium-sized top from the casual range could be the almost the same size as a large top from a formal range.

With some clothes it depends on the style. For example, an American style t-shirt would be baggy and half-sleeve ending at the elbow; so someone who normally wears a medium-shirt could wear a small or even XS shirt.
