I haven't eaten meat since last night and am not actually missing it as yet. I usually eat meat with almost every meal!
Because it's so hard to find halal meat outside, I usually only eat meat with dinner, and then not every time. I don't think I would want to give up meat entirely, but I don't view it as essential to a meal. People need to start thinking about cutting down anyway.
Because it's not sustainable long term, with more and more of the world population getting rich enough to buy meat. Growing grain to feed animals is stupidly inefficient cf to growing crops to feed humans directly.
Of course, the EU is considering making it legal to use up mashed up pig remains in chicken feed. That worked SO well with feeding cow mashed up cow
I'm not suggesting people give up meat entirely. Meat is an important part of the diet. I just think typical western people eat more than they need. Actually, that applies to non meat as well - the amount we throw away is shocking :S
Oh, I just lurve living at home: mother dearest, from now on I will refer to her as MD, has just spent about 10 mins screeching at Dad and I, cos we are so lazy and don't do anything, and I won't go to Sainsbury's with her now because it is rush hour.
FFS!
Anyone wanna do a parent swap, like wife swap but more desperate?!
Well, no, because the whole crux of her rant was relating to the stairs having not been hoovered: she doesn't seem to get that Dad may well be at home all day, but he is working, not dossing about. She, gets in at 3.30 and then sits around all night.
