I read the first book although wasn't able to comment on MS due to moving house and not having a broadband connection for nigh on a month. Anyway Two Caravans was pretty ropey to say the least and at times i almost lost the will to live whilst reading it...
As for the current month I read Enders Game ages ago so didn't want to revisit that one. I enjoyed it but sadly Sci Fi isnt my bag. Interestingly I read recently that Wolfgang Peterson is turning it into a film slated for a 2009 arrival.
As i'm going in for surgery on July 1st i was curious to know if July's book has been chosen as yet? I think i'll need something to take my mind away from the NHS bed breakfast and evening squeals.

No - but you can start a new thread - that will give us time to order the book from the library. Well, us cheapskates anyway.
Best of luck with the surgery. Are you buying lucky pants for the hospital? ;-)
Before I forget it, I should get on and write something I think...........although I dont have a huge amount to say.
I was very dubious about it since I'm no big fan of boy's adventure stories or sci-fi but actually, I enjoyed it pretty well as a story and didn't have any trouble finishing it from a 'motivation' point of view.
Some of it had some pace and I did find myself trying to imagine the games and what they were on about.
The characters weren't that well developed I suppose but, if you look at it as a 'teen read' it did fine. Ender was an interesting little guy and having known a number of small boys I can see that many of them would dream of being him.
But what about the women?
Mother..... not that bothered really, a bit half hearted about it all.
Valentine..... a bit damp, clever but controlled by Peter for most of the book and lighting little fires and doing what she was told for the the rest until she manages to do something a little subversive and get Ender away.
Petra..... poor thing.. the only girl in the whole army and the it's her, of course, who breaks down and can't finish. Why couldn't it have been one of the lads?
If I was a teenage girl I'd be setting fire to the pages and writing myself a new ending. As I'm a sensible mummy, I'm making them all sit up nicely at the table for tea and then tucking them up in bed.
Oh and...... the name for the poor unfortunate 'enemy' got a bit annoying. I didn't like that.
I expect peter maybe appears in other stories does he? He seemed a bit of a naughty boy, what with the squirrels and all.
I did enjoy it though in a daft sort of way and it was nice to have a reason to read something completely random ( for me)
