is it really such a high stress job?

our company has gone through 3 of them in less than 3 months. they seem to appear, then never come out of the sales room...

It is when your salary is largely commission-based and there's a lot of cold calling

I've been thinking about this, as alot of the better paying jobs round here are sales based, like trainee sales executives and recruitment consultants. They were all basic salary plus uncapped commission, so you could potentially earn a lot more than your basic.

One ad even quoted their top consultant as earning £475k after only 4 years working their, and the company car scheme included Aston Martins, BMWs and 911s!!

That is a low number, 3 in a month would be normal.

What type of sales is it?

Sometimes a certain product/service is not suited to a person. You also get people who have done the basic account renewals and move into sales or people trying sales out, do not like it.

These companies 'bull-shit' so much.

When I was in previous job, they told me one person made £85k in his first year. Being in a senior department, I found it was about £40k and after seven years at the compnay he was on six-figures.

What they also fail to tell you is the position the person was recruited for.

My brother in law worked in sales for a while. It's horrible, soul destroying work.

You also have to understand it is a very boring job and no reward of a sale.
