Yeah, it depends on how you rate a game. I still play Super Mario on my SNES even though it looks dated because it's a classic game! I even fire up the old Commodore 64 for a blast on WizBall and Head Over Heels every now and again because the gameplay's timeless!
The old one's are the best! They were rock solid too compared to the games of today
I have to disagree there... the best of the old ones were the best "at that time"... nothing compares to games like MGS4 and Drakes Fortune from the past.... I did have some great times on games like Zelda and Mario on the SNES... but times have moved on.
C64 - World Cup Carnival
Mega Drive - any Disney Platformer
PC - loads to mention but Boiling Point springs to mind, just because it was released unfinished and needed a CD-sized patch before it worked.

True true - gameplay wise some old games are awesome, I busted out Castlevania on the NES (which is nearly 20 years old) a few weeks back & played it to death, had me entertained for hours. Maybe I was being a little nostalgic
There was this game on the dreamcast. It was called Darkman or something like that. It was this voodoo guy who was brought back to life. Utter garbage.

Nostalgia.... I got hold of Bounty Bob Strikes Back a few months ago, it was off the C64 I used to love it to death... Was a total load of SHIT when I played it again... =)
I agree with Noffles about the nostalgia thing. I played some old classics quite recently and, with the possible exception of Streets of Rage on the Megadrive, they just didn’t get me fired up the way they used to.
I tended to only buy games that were highly rated in the mags and the same goes for now. I had Altered Beast on the Megadrive and that was pretty dreadful - it was free with the system though.
Did anyone used to buy mean machines? Remember those little cartoon characters, there was one called Jazz I think who was cool. I was defo a sega man but switched to Nintendo when I played Street Fighter 2, It felt really dirty but I likes it.
