Given that my time seems to be getting less and less these days, I would like to prepare as much of my diet at the weekend for the coming week that I can, can anyone suggest any good things that can be used on a bulking diet, how long in advance they can be prepared - stuff like that.
For example, if i cooked a big pot of sweet potatoes, is this the best way, am I losing anything having them sit in the fridge and how long do they last - or is it better to just peel them and store them in water till cooking?
My tip is oat bars. You'll find a lot of varying recipes on the internet but most centre around oats, whey, honey, peanut butter, nuts etc. Very easy to make, carry around, and eat.
I've copied down quite a few if you want to see them.
Almost as good as oat bars, are flapjacks, which I find easier to eat. I swap a some of the butter for good fats like flaxseed oil, virgin olive oil and peanut/cashew nut butter, and use unrefined sugar and honey. Still prob not the 'cleanest' food around but if your bulking you do need to get the calories down and they are calorie dense. I make up between 10 & 20 at a time and they keep for up to a week in a airtight tub. Have recently started individually wrapping in clingfilm too which should help prolong their life.

How about getting a slow cooker? Switch it on before you go to work and then when you get home you have a nice stew. Stew is great for bulking as it's cheap.
Nuts, seeds and dried fruits spring to mind as easily transported calorie dense foods.
Tins of low fat evaporated milk are cheap and approx 450 cals per tin.
The Mansized Manjacks are tasty - pack the mixture down well in the tin before baking to eliminate crumbs or try malt loaf for low fat carbs on the hoof.
Spread the malt loaf with low fat cheese or have a glass of milk with it to get more protein in the mix.
If you like fish small tins of sardines are easy to keep around - just slap them in a roll for lunch and have a piece of fruit or salad too.
Don't forget eggs - they come ready packaged - just boil and go.

On this point Liquid - if you mash the sweet potatoes in the cooking water then you will get to eat the vits which have leached out into the water.
I would not keep them in the fridge for more than 3 days as they can start "growing"
You can microwave sweet potato - just scrub and prick the skins like spuds.
Cook for about 10 mins per potato - depending on the power setting of your micro.
I don't eat the skins as they can be tough!
Microwaving is "fuss free" - you can leave them to do their own thing when you are short on time.
