What mansizers dig dance music???
Not the crap the kids listen to today with singing hamsters but proper trance, rave, house.
I'm sick of my mates slaggin me off because I love dance music. IT IS NOT CHAV!!! hahaha
As far as I'm concerned there are two types of music, good and bad. I don't give a shit about genre. Gimme Aphex Twin, Mettalica, Grieg and the Beatles and I'm happy but I've got a right passion for a bit of dance.
I love labels like Hooj Choons and Full Frequency. I used to DJ many years ago but sold my equipment a long time ago. I might get the missus to buy me some 1210's for Xmas :-)
Heres a selection of my favourites from the years please feel free to post a couple of yours too.
Unless of course you all think its just chav....
People who feel the need to put down other people's music tastes are tossers. Get some new friends.
I only ever bought the music from the 303 Acid era through to the present day, I wasn't arsed about the rave scene, did some clubbing for five years and it was a good laugh, met one of my best friends through that route but then John Digweed's Bedrock night uprooted from Fabric and went back to bloody Heaven, an overpriced dump with arsey door staff and security, and that was my cue to return to simply buying the music.
Dance music's main problem is the constant recycling every 10/15/20 years - I bought all three mixes of 808 State's Pacific at the time including the crappy one from the charts on the album, so why does anyone think I want a 4th bloody mix of it now?
When there are people determined to make music in the genre (That's Sasha, Max Graham, BT, Hybrid, Hexstatic, Plaid, Bedrock, React Label, Faithless, to name but a few) and not just get three to five grand putting their name on a remix of a new song, then things sound great. Otherwise you're right, there's lots of tuneless pap in dance, but you have to keep an open mind and keep listening for the very best of it.
Oh yeah forgot about videogame soundtracks - 16-Bit era had Destruction Derby and the very first Wipeout on PS1, also Ridge Racer, many many more I could mention.

There was a game for the Mega CD called bloodshot, it had a mega soundtrack.
If you want a cracking tune from Wipeout listen to this. Not a great dance tune but still savage.
Great vid as well.
I remember when I was 16 and Wipeout first came out. I had a thing for chicks with purple hair :-D

I have to say one of my all time memories of life was standing beside Sasha at the turntables on Bondi Beach on New Years Eve 2001 and he was playing Expander.
It was simply AMAZING!!!
Double nine I love you because of your post I remembered this choon!
