Yeas I love dancemusic and have a real passion for it too yet beverytime I post anything about it on here no-one replies so I guess were in the minority!
I'll have a trawl thru those vids you put up and see what I think. I just pur'chased' some decks so I've been looking at new cd's to but to practice me ol mixing. Just bought Armand Van Helden' - You Don't know me; the best of and its awesome.
Big fan of Van Helden, Armin Van burren, ferry corsten, tiesto, Paul van dyk, and especially the swedish house mafia! hell yeah! :-)
I get stick for liking dance too; but considering it comes from people who like rock and indie I consider it a compliement!
Went to Creamfields this year and hopefully off to Ibiza next summer. Yeah it has a slightly chavy stereotype but at dance events everyones just there for the music and no-one can say that raving chics arent dam hot in bikini's and luminous short skirts! :-D
I remember when the now Galaxy102 was called Kiss 102 up here in Manchester, and it was still quite underground and allmost piratey. They played some propper good dance on there back then and it was mostly just DJ's doing sessions. Now, as it's grown, it's just mainstream stuff like Rihanna, Cascada and so on.
Sad really. All changed when it became Galaxy and you had to listen longer and longer to hear a good non mainstream dance/house track.
I'll go further back to the days of Chic, Sister Sledge, Odyssey, and all the other originals that have lent themselves to remix, after remix during the 80's, 90's and 00's.
I've always championed disco, dance, house or whatever it gets called - as far as I am concerned there is nothing better for giving you the feel good factor. Stick it on your i-pod and dance yourself dizzy (Liquid Gold) as you walk to work - sets you up for a great day at the shittiest of jobs!
There's also a cracking website that has an annual party playlist posted with all the 70's and 80's dance tracks you just can't help getting excited about. I have the CD sets for RTP5 and RTP6 and I can thoroughly recommend them - although they are difficult to get hold of. All the tracks are segued into each other for a continuous disco-fest that lasts for hours!
