What did you do on yours?
Were you glad to be 'an adult'?
and
How, as apart, should one address the issue of offspring being legally able to drink your beer? ( or their own obviously......) Do you just let them get on with it with the occasional murmur of 'Go ha'pennies'?

oooooh I remember my 18th... I went go-karting in the day with friends, then my dad booked a taxi for us to go into town - but secretly booked a limo; which was ace; we went somewhere for food I think then the limo piucked us up n dropped us off in town where we got nicely drunk! :-)
I dont remember it being such a big thing cus I'd been drinking at parties n round mates houses before then anyway.
For my 18th, the folks paid for me and a group of the best friends to go for a meal (think about 10 of us) and then we met up with a load of other peeps and went off in to town .As my b'day is September, I was one of the first to be 18, and that kicked off our going outs :)
As for feeling different, I guess you get the responsibilities, but for me, it didn't really click in with a lot of stuff, as I wasn't interested or didn't understand. Being 17 was a bigger thing for me, as it meant being able to learn to drive
I can't remember either! God that must mean I'm old. I was still with my first proper boyf at the time so I think a crowd of us went for a meal and then got drunk.
I remember my 21st much clearer - that was a great night! :)
I never had to have 'the talk' for my 18th because I'd been going out clubbing from 16 onwards. Mum and dad weren't exactly happy about it but they let me if dad could come and pick me up afterwards.
I did nothing. I treat any birthday as any other day. Probably because i was raised without celebriting it. If i had my own family (or kids rather) though i'd like to celebrate theirs.
As to whether I felt I was an adult at 18... then no. Changing from 17 to 18 made no difference for me, right now at 24, i still don't think i'm an "adult" yet. For me to feel that way, i'd have to feel able to protect the people i care for, support them, and feel like i'm growing as a person.
Drinking has never been an issue for me. I've never drink much. Never bought booze until I was old enough. The only problem with legally buying booze would be if it involved excessive consumption and it was creating anti-social behaviour..
We all wore suits for each others 18th's (how grown up?!), and proceeded to get thoroughly wasted.
Did exactly the same! I had a night out for my birthday the Friday after my birthday, on the actual day went quad biking in the morning and the pub all day - was home by 11pm!
