By that I mean the 'attack' that triggered the boxer to go nuts!

Are you kidding? The two guys are talking, the furthest one looks to the couple coming, says something and steps back, the nearest guy then suddenly swings his arm in to the girls face?

Under UK law (although they sound eastern european) you are allowed to perform pre-emptive self-defence, i.e. to hit them if you perceive a threat to your safety. It's not anywhere near the realm of unreasonable that he thought they'd be in danger and that they'd continue the attack - after he pelts them both a few times they then follow after the couple.

I absolutely agree with what the guy did, but given that there was two of them he should have ensured that both stayed down long enough for them to get away safely, not just follow after them!!

From your inverted commas, do you also consider that it wasn't an attack, merely an accident?

Well it seemed like he kind of stuck his arm out at a bad moment. Surely if he wanted to take her out he would have given it a bit more welly?!

Actually- after watching it again on a bigger screen, I withdraw my statement- he cleary did wait for her!

Deserved all he got!

It must have been pretty hard as you could hear it. I do think it was more of an attack than accidental, who flails there arms about if they know someone is coming up behind them... I thought the first two were gonna end up fighting each other initially.
