I can never understand people who pay to join a gym and then walk or run for hours on a treadmill. Go to the park!
My parents were great walkers - my father walked to work about three miles each way for 40 years, and they used to go for 20 mile hikes and hillwalks at weekends.
They still died!

"Generally, low-intensity activity such as walking alone is not likely to give anybody marked health benefits compared to programmes that occasionally elevate the intensity.""
That depends on your starting point. If you're 25stone then intensive exercise will kill you.
