Brighton's new Indian deli needs to work on its pricing and flavours, but not a bad start. Been there? Tell us what you think!

we had an indian meal last night....... usual disappointment... just sweet coconut-y sauce and rather peculiar meat.

What do you expect from Southall, even the police look shoddy. I should know I live, although not for long.

I miss the days of quiet Richmond.

I came across this review when I was searching for Deli India's website (don't think they have one by the way) and thought that as I've been there a few times I would let you know what I thought.

First thing to say is that the place looks really nice and the service is great. This is largely due to the fact that the girl who owns it / cooks the food always comes out to see how people are enjoying the food and asks for feedback. We loved the curries, expecially the veg thali but I know she listens to what people say as my girlfriend said she thought the dhal didn't need tomato in it. Next time we went there were two dhals - one with tomato and one without!

To say the food is bland is just plain wrong! We thought it was just spicy enough - especially for lunch, which is when they are open. Maybe the reviewer prefers a vindaloo, but I like real Indian food and there are only two places in Brighton that I have ever found it - Planet India and now Deli India.

We'll be back soon!

thanks nadeem / will. I've heard Tooting's a good place for a curry - but can you get proper Indian food or is it more like the Bangladeshi curry houses with Kormas, chicken tikka masala etc?

Both. They have to do some stuff like that to cater for the english crowd but they do some genuine stuff too. Lahore Karahi is dead cheap, Masaledar is a tiny bit classier. Kastoori is an amzing vegetarian indian restaraunt. There are several others, I'd avoid the Sakonis chain restaraunt.
