ChrisP - any word about the supposed spy-ware that is in this game for advertisers?

Ah yes, I was hoping someone would mention this! Didn't really want to clutter up the review with talk of ads.

Anyway, straight from the horses mouth...."The advertising program in Battlefield 2142 does not access any files which are not directly related to the game. It does not capture personal data such as cookies, account login detail, or surfing history. BF 2142 delivers ads by region. The advertising system uses a player's IP address to determine the region of the player, assisting to serve the appropriate ads by region and language. For instance, a player in Paris might be presented with ads in French. The information collected will not be repurposed for other uses. Battlefield 2142 also tracks "impression data" related to in-game advertisements: location of a billboard in the game, brand advertised, duration of advertisement impression, etc. This information is used to help advertisers qualify the reach of a given advertisement."

So, well, it seems like there's nothing truly sinister going on (but if there is, I'll hear and post about it, don't worry!) just a sign of the times with in game ads sadly. Lets just hope they don't end up infringing on our gaming pleasure eh?

yup, that doesn't sound as bad as that link from earlier had suggested. You mentioned mainly multiplier, is this game any good as a single player? I played Battlefield 2 this way and enjoyed it but never got to play online.

It's 'good' offline, just like Battlefield 2 yeah, but online is definitely where the real actions at. Can have some incredibly tense battles if you can get a large group of like minded people on both sides.
