Hi mate, it's a couple of generations ago but yeah. I'd like to get back in touch with Callaghans in Cork (I think) but wouldn't know where to start.

I did something similar a few years back tracing my ancestors.
Your first port of call is any living relatives you have and work backwards that way.
Get as much info on place names, dates and maiden names etc. as possible before approaching any genealogist or records office in Cork. But it's always turns out to be an interesting project!

That's the problem. Everyone I know on that side of the family has passed away. We've got in touch with a few people but no one from Ireland yet.

So what did you find from your search?

Hmm. Well a lot of my great grandparents were involved in fighting the British and running safe houses for Michael Collins and the IRB and the IRA in Dublin, so I won't go into too much detail here! lol

Off to college now but I will have a few details that might be of help to you. Organisations and the like. Will chuck em up later for ya!

Hi Will,

Your first port of call I reckon would be here

Here is a good all round source for local information centres.

It's a shame you haven't got more information though. It will make it that little bit harder.

I've got a fair bit of Irish - on both sides of the family (the real name is a giveaway).

But with a strong history of illegitimacy, tracing anybody would eb a nightmare!
