The Government is planning to stop benefits for unemployed people who cannot speak English. Fair enough?

Yep, that's fair enough. It's pretty much an essential skill.

Too right! I had to write a test in order to apply for naturalisation... And I speak perfect english...

If you live in a country, you should at LEAST be able to speak the language

Could not agree with everyone more!

The idea of benefit, at least I thought, was to see you through till you got back on your feet. What hope do you have of getting a job, if you cannot speak the language?

If you read the article, it says the gov wants to get peeps to learn english but at the same time it is cancelling the free lessons. That isn't going to help, is it? Also, the report mentions that even those that can speak english still face prejudice against them getting jobs.

I do think if you come here, you must learn the language, it should not be up to us to translate english into every single other language. But there is more going on than immigrants coming here and just willfully scrounging.

Look Nadeem, if you're going to be all reasonable about it, we'll get the huff.
