I think it would be difficult to have a "saved drafts" type feature for lost connections.
You can just ctrl + C whatever you write if you think your connection is going to crap out.
Quick replies would be great, but not really necessary. At the end of each thread page, you can have a text box to write a quick comment to post there and then without coming to the "reply to post" page.
This is good for people with slower connections (like me when at home on dial up - or on the mobile web browser) as you don't have to load another new page.

Chris has it with the fast reply explanation. I haven't lost any text on account of connection issues with site, or connection itself but i have accidentally clicked a link or back-tracked and lost a lot, which irrked me enough not to bother retyping it out.

It happens to me a lot at *whispers* work, mainly due to crap computers and network connection. This may improve next month when the new system is in place. But it would be good to have Will.
