Chelsea through to FA Cup semis

John Terry's goal put Chelsea in the last four and ended Newcastle skipper Alan Shearer's hopes of a glorious send off

Chelsea's 1-0 victory last night brought them one step closer to the Double.

Shearer meanwhile retires at the end this season with nothing in the trophy cabinet to show for ten years at the club. Best not to bank on a game against the Champions though, eh pet?

"I’m sure he’ll be back at this club as manager", said Newcastle caretaker boss Glenn Roeder hopefully.

The only goal of the game came on four minutes when Terry side footed Damien Duff's corner past Shay Given.

The Magpies Robbie Elliot got sent off for a last minute challenge on winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

"It was a blatant dive", said Shearer. His dissent earned a booking.

Liverpool, West Ham and Charlton/ Middlesborough are left in the competition. The last two kick off tonight at 8pm, and the draw will be made at five to one on Friday.
