After Lara's disappointing first outing on the PS2, we must admit we were a bit worried. But it looks like Tomb Raiders everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief.
In what claims to be the first review anywhere, Official Playstation 2 magazine (OPS2 for short) has awarded Tomb Raider: Legend eight out of ten.
The only real downside is length. "It's too brief", says OPS2. "The game ends just as it hits its stride."
"It's a Americanised, high energy reinterpretation", continues the review. The sprawling levels have gone, to be replaced by tight design - and not just on Lara's outfits.
So say goodbye to the grid based layout, the clunky turn on the spot style of control and the endless attempts at the same old tough bits. No more tearing your hair out and dumping the controller in the bin in disgust.
Instead we get a backup team in Croft Manor, miles more gunplay and much improved targetting.
We can't wait to play it too. Drop in for our review on launch day, 7th April, or earlier if Eidos will give us a copy. Pretty please...
