The best comedy one liner ever

Peter Kay's "Garlic bread - it's the future, I've tasted it" line has been named the best one liner ever

For thousand UK Gold viewers were asked to pick their favourite one liners from a shortlist of 50.

Kay's line from Phoenix Nights topped the poll, reports Sky News.

Mrs Merton's classic question to Debbie McGee took second place: "So, what first attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?"

The Office was third. "If you were to ask me to name three geniuses, I probably wouldn't say Einstein, Newton... I'd go Milligan, Cleese, Everett, Sessions", says David Brent.

Father Ted took fourth. "I'm not a fascist. I'm a priest", says Ted. "Fascists dress up in black and tell people what to do. Whereas priests... more drink?"

In at number five, Rowan Atkinson's Edmund Blackadder: "He's mad! He's mad. He's madder than Mad Jack McMad, the winner of this year's Mr Madman competition."
